Reimagining how digital library resources are accessed.

Product Design

Libby is an app that enables users to access digital materials from their local libraries. I find the app useful yet difficult to navigate, and felt compelled to embark on a personal redesign project. I set out on my project with a clear mission: retain Libby's core functionality and purpose, but with a reimagined sense of delight and usability. Access the prototype here.

In conversations with Libby users, I found that navigating and filtering titles was a major pain point. I wanted to rethink the search experience, emulating how you might browse an actual library. Users can browse featured titles from their library, recommended titles based on their past reads, or search & filter for something specific.

Infusing delight and warmth throughout various aspects of the Libby app was an enjoyable, meaningful exercise. One revision I really enjoyed was making Libby's chat-style onboarding flow more friendly, conversational, and welcoming. I believe it was touches like these, made successful through rounds of iteration, that made this project impactful.
